Why it matters
One of 4rest4all's oldest relationships, built with the leadership of Álvaro Tukano, a central figure in the Brazilian and global Indigenous movement. For decades, Álvaro Tukano has been a voice for the peoples of the upper Rio Negro, helping bring Indigenous claims to national and international arenas and shaping the political consciousness of the movement.
Challenges
The community's historic struggle for a road connecting the Balaio Indigenous Land to the city of São Gabriel da Cachoeira, a lifeline for access to healthcare, education and supplies that remains unfinished.
Our role
Connecting 5 strategic points across the Balaio Indigenous Land with 4restlink, enabling communication with local authorities and neighboring communities for emergencies.
Priority project
A community space for preserving and passing on Tukano knowledge through music, crafts, languages, and traditional practices. Proposed as a starting point for engaging with the territory, in dialogue with Cooperíndio. We want to collaborate on this campaign and with the community's cultural center.
