Why it matters

Sítio Indígena Camaçari is a Kayabi community led by Matareiup Kayabi, a longtime voice in the Indigenous movement of the Xingu region. The community holds and transmits Kayabi knowledge, language, crafts, planting and ceremony, and is in dialogue with 4rest4all about how connectivity can serve its autonomy.

Challenges

Sustaining Kayabi culture and territory amid agricultural frontier pressure, and securing the tools, communication, energy and partnerships, that let the community decide its own path.

Our role

We are in a listening stage with Sítio Indígena Camaçari. Any investment is conditional on building a relationship and a community mandate, defined together with the leadership of Matareiup Kayabi.

Priority project

Listening and relationship building

A first cycle of dialogue with the leadership of Sítio Indígena Camaçari to understand the community's priorities, from cultural preservation to communication, before any project is proposed. We move at the pace the community sets.
